After Yonder Mountain String completed the interview (Seen here in Part I), we re-grouped. The band was quick to set-up - One mic, centered among the band (”singe mic”) and a DI box for the bass - Probably the fastest load-in and soundcheck I’ve ever seen in my studio. The audio was gathered on two channels direct into the camera and mixed in post. The band performed “Sometimes I’ve Won,” see here, in addition to “Hill Country Girl.” I’ll be posting “Hill Country Girl” in the weeks to come. Afterward, we packed everything up, headed down the elevator and hopped back into the VW Westy so I could honor my agreement to provide the band with transportation. For some reason I settled on 8th Avenue for the return route which, as it turns out at 3:30PM in the afternoon, is probably the worst routing to take. Luckily we were all in the comforts of the van. Unfortunately, we didn’t return to Irving Plaza until about 4:45PM. Ouch!
