“Million Miles From Yesterday” - Gov’t Mule

In 2006, Gov’t Mule decided after 11-albums that it was time to make a music video. They chose the song “Million Miles From Yesterday” from the album High and Mighty. Warren’s wife, Stef Scamardo, solicited former Wetlands nightclub owner and filmmaker, Peter Shapiro, to direct. Coincidentally, he asked yours truly to produce and also edit the music video.

Just like the lyrics remind listeners about the band’s lifelong journey, visually “Million Miles From Yesterday” is a in essence a 3-minute documentary about Gov’t Mule begining at the band’s humble inception up until 2006 where the band is scene performing at their 3-day festival, Mountain Jam.

The live performance footage was shot on Super 16mm film using three cameras which filmed the band playing “Million Miles from Yesterday” twice at Mountain Jam. Once during the second set and a final time during the encore. In post, the band provided thousands of photos which were filter down and animated. The video has garnered hundreds of thousands of view on-line, saw airtime on VH1 Classic and I happen to see it all the time on my gym’s close-circuit TV network.
