We checked in with Sean Kelly and The Samples during soundcheck at Lion’s Den in Greenwich Village. The band was in town and on tour in support of their new album Anthology in Motion. Kelly and fellow bandmate, Tom Askin, talk about how the album was mixed and what it’s like performing some of those songs live for the first in many, many years. Kelly also offers up how the band got its name and how they define their sound as well how film inspires his music and how important bootlegging and tape trading are. Live performances of “Did You Ever Look So Nice,” “Wild River,” “Little Silver Ring,” and “Shine On” are showcased throughout the piece.
